Frequently Asked Questions
What happens next?We normally meet for an initial assessment lasting one hour. We look at why you have come to therapy at this time in your life and what you would like to achieve.
Following the assessment if you would like to begin work then we will normally meet weekly, for sessions lasting fifty minutes. The number of sessions is something we agree between us. I work short, medium and long term.
How much does each session cost? Each session costs £70. The fee is due at the end of each session. Payment for blocks of sessions is also fine.
How long does therapy take? This is a tough question to answer. Of course it depends on what you are dealing with and what you would like to change. Short term work can be very helpful in coming through an immediate crisis. However deeper psychotherapy takes longer - it involves a gradual journey into the understanding of self. This means months rather than weeks, but the results tend to stay with you for years. The final length of any contract is decided between us. However I find most clients will make significant progress in a contract lasting between six months and one year.
Are you professionally insured?Yes I carry full professional liability insurance
What happens if I have to cancel sessions?I have a very clear policy on missed or cancelled sessions which I find works well for myself and my clients:
Pre-arranged absences holidays etc: No charge
If an arranged session is cancelled: £40
No notice but the session is missed: £70
